Mike was born in Tiffin, Ohio. He graduated from Seneca East High School in Attica, Ohio in 2000, where he played baseball and basketball. In 2000, he received the Division 3 Ohio Player of the Year Award for baseball and was awarded the Rawlings 1st team All American Award. He currently still holds the Ohio and National single season batting average record of .810. After graduating high school, he received an athletic scholarship to play baseball at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois. At Rend Lake College, he earned the Division 1 Junior College All American Award in 2002 as well as graduating with an Associate of Arts Degree. From there, he received a baseball scholarship from the University of Kentucky for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. During his 2-year career at the University of Kentucky, he compiled a .324 batting average, 24 homeruns and 97RBI. Upon graduating from the University of Kentucky, he was signed by the Gateway Grizzlies Professional Baseball Club in June of 2004. He played professionally for the Grizzlies for 5 years. As a member of the Gateway Grizzlies, he was a 2-time Frontier League All-Star, was named to the post season All Frontier League Team, holds the all-time RBI (315) and Hits record (459) for the Frontier League, and is second all-time in the Frontier League in home runs (83). He was inducted into the Frontier League Hall of Fame in 2015. His coaching career began in 2005, where he led the varsity baseball team at Buckeye Central High School in Ohio (20-5 record) to the regional finals. His professional coaching experience includes serving as the hitting coach for the Gateway Grizzlies, Manager of the Joliet Slammers in the Frontier League, and the hitting coach for the River City Rascals. Currently, he serves as the building manager for the Sports Locker Training Facility, Head Instructor for the Sports Locker, and Head of Baseball Operations for the Southern Illinois Blue Jays youth baseball organization. He enjoys helping youth baseball players achieve their goals and chase their baseball dreams. Mike resides now in Freeburg IL with his fiance Cari, and four kids, Jordyn, Beau, London, and Callie.

Brittni specializes in softball fast pitch pitching lessons and with years of experience already behind her, she’s already has put her mark on the area youth softball world. We couldn’t be happier she is coming to The Sports Locker to teach how to be a more dominate and effective player inside the the circle. Brittni’s bio is below. Brittni Chapman is from Fairview Heights, Illinois and graduated from Belleville East in 2011. After graduation, she played one year at Morehead State University then transferred to University of Missouri - St. Louis to be closer to home. At UMSL, Brittni was named to the All-Conference Team 3 times, shared the female athlete of the year award with her classmates during her senior year, and consistently had one of the lowest ERA’s in the country. Her team was ranked #1 in the nation multiple times and never fell out of the top 10. During her time there, they won 3 Conference Championships and 2 NCAA Regional Championships. After graduating from UMSL in 2015, she went onto receive her Doctorate in Chiropractic at Logan University and has been in practice since 2019. Brittni uses her knowledge of biomechanics of the human body to ensure that her pitchers are safe, efficient, and powerful. She began coaching during her junior year at UMSL. She coached for a nationally ranked travel ball team and even spent one year coaching at St. Louis University. Brittni brings in over 8 years of pitching instruction and almost 20 years of softball experience and is excited to join the team at The Sports Locker.

Below is Lexi’s very established career. Lexi was born and raised in Steeleville, IL where she played for the Warriors. Throughout her career there, she was nominated for the All-Conference team & the IHSA All-State team all four years (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). In 2016 she led the Warriors to a regional championship and finished the season with a batting average of .584 and 10 HRs. During high school she played travel ball for the Southern Heat and St. Louis Fusion. Lexi finished her high school career with a total of 32 HRs. She then went on to play college softball at John A. Logan College (2018-2020). Lexi is ready to work with the younger generation of softball players and help them achieve their goals.

James is from O’Fallon Illinois and graduated from OFallon High School in 2012. After his high school playing days, was signed to play at the junior college level for two years. In the Summer of 2014 he was signed by the Gateway Grizzlies for their playoff push. He also played for the Black Sox traveling team and went to spring training. James will be giving catching and hitting lessons. Now, James works full time but still plays Mon Clair and St Louis mens league baseball. James is very passionate about the game of baseball and is still a student of the game as well, learning new ways to play, coach and teach. James is very excited to work with local area catchers and teach them what he has been fortunate enough to learn over the years through different levels of baseball.
